R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Gene Beck was accorded the Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council's (TACC) Cooperative Ginner of the Year award at a ceremony in San Antonio on March 18, 2003; and WHEREAS, This accolade is a fitting tribute to a Texan who has benefited the Texas cotton industry in numerous ways over the past 40 years; beginning in the co-op grain business in 1963 with Producers Grain Corporation, his career has included positions with Littlefield Farmers Cooperative Gin and Elevator, Hackberry Co-op Gin, Lubbock Cotton Growers, and New Home Co-op Gin, where he continues to serve with distinction as general manager; and WHEREAS, Mr. Beck has proven himself to be a sterling innovator and master of job efficiency; consistently a forerunner in new ideas at the gin, he was one of the first to install a UD system, convert to the module feeder delivery system, and comply with new air and environmental regulations; an exemplary manager, he has helped to create an effective, incentive-based work environment while implementing many cost-saving measures, such as increasing in-house repairs, installing a natural gas line to lower energy bills, and improving equipment care and efficiency; and WHEREAS, Active in numerous professional organizations, Mr. Beck has held the presidencies of the Plains Co-op Managers Association and Plains Ginners Association and was the first person to serve as president of both the TACC and Texas Cotton Ginners Association; a former delegate to the National Cotton Council, he has been recognized with the National Ginner of the Year award from the National Cotton Ginners Association as well as the Texas Ginner of the Year award from the Texas Cotton Ginners Association; and WHEREAS, The Texas cotton ginning industry has had no better friend than Mr. Beck, and he is truly deserving of special recognition for his many lasting contributions to that industry and to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Gene Beck for being named the Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council's Cooperative Ginner of the Year and extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Beck as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
