R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Officer Justin Todd Wollam of the Anchorage, Alaska, police department was killed in the line of duty on July 9, 2001, while valiantly protecting the lives of other individuals; and WHEREAS, This esteemed officer exemplified in his personal and professional conduct the singular virtues of courage, integrity, and unwavering dedication, and his commitment to the law enforcement profession, as well as to the community he served, earned him the lasting respect of a great many people; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born on May 16, 1973, in Danbury and graduated from Danbury High School; Officer Wollam served his country with distinction as a member of the United States Air Force before beginning his notable career in police work by serving the citizens of Angleton and Danbury; and WHEREAS, This devoted family man treasured his relationship with his wife, Kristy, and their daughter, Kristin, and he served as a role model for myriad friends and colleagues; and WHEREAS, Texans and Alaskans alike are indebted to this exceptional police officer and to all the fine men and women in the law enforcement profession who, by their selfless dedication to the public welfare, have enabled us to enjoy the benefits of a peaceful and orderly society; and WHEREAS, Officer Wollam's legacy of heroic dedication and self-sacrifice will surely endure and continue to be a source of inspiration to those who follow him in this difficult but essential profession; though his presence is gone from us now, he will long be lovingly remembered as a man of honor and compassion by all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer Justin Todd Wollam and extend deepest sympathy to his wife, Kristy Wollam; to his daughter, Kristin Wollam; to his parents, W. R. and Beverly Wollam; to his brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Wendy Wollam; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Officer Justin Todd Wollam.
