R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Business Investment Growth of Austin, (BiG AUSTIN) 
is holding its third annual Micro Business of the Year Awards 
luncheon on April 21, 2003, and this event provides a fitting 
opportunity to recognize the important contributions of Central 
Texas' small business owners to the local economy; and
	WHEREAS, Established in 1992, BiG AUSTIN is a nonprofit 
organization that equips aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge 
and tools they need to launch, manage, and expand small business 
ventures; and
	WHEREAS, To that end, BiG AUSTIN has assisted more than 700 
area businesses and has helped to create or retain more than 220 
jobs since its inception by providing its clients with accredited 
entrepreneurial training, access to business capital, and a 
comprehensive  resource network; and
	WHEREAS, This year's "Good Things Come in Small Packages" 
awards banquet honors a number of outstanding individuals who have 
achieved success through the program, for their stories are an 
inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend Business Investment Growth of Austin on 
its remarkable efforts in behalf of economic development in Central 
Texas and extend to the 2003 recipients of the Micro Business of the 
Year Awards sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for BiG AUSTIN as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
