R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of Farmers Branch Youth Leadership Class of 2003 are visiting the State Capitol on April 9, 2003, to gain further insight into the workings of state government, and their presence today provides a fitting opportunity to honor this outstanding program and its participants; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce, the group is composed of 26 juniors from R. L. Turner High School in Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District who have successfully completed the organization's application and interview process; and WHEREAS, During the year-long program, these young Texans take part in a number of worthwhile programs, including career coaching, economic development activities, and leadership training; today's agenda includes a tour of the Governor's Mansion and State Capitol, a briefing on school finance and open container laws, and lessons on lobbying and public service; and WHEREAS, Farmers Branch Youth Leadership endeavors to build a more informed and involved citizenry by focusing on the character, competence, and compassion of Texas youth, and this noteworthy endeavor is truly worthy of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend all those associated with Farmers Branch Youth Leadership Class of 2003 and extend sincere best wishes to the visiting delegation for a memorable and informative visit to the State Capitol.
