R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The M.A.N.O. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Odessa
has been in existence for 10 years and celebrated this important
milestone with a gala event on March 13, 2003, keynoted by United
States Treasurer Rosario Marin; and
WHEREAS, M.A.N.O. has been recognized on both state and
national levels as the Hispanic Chamber of the Year and, under the
able leadership of executive director Iris Correa, it is a model
that is emulated by Hispanic chambers of commerce across the U.S.;
and
WHEREAS, The organization offers a multitude of financial and
business development services, including financial aid paperwork
processing, home equity loan application processing, and HUD
certification application processing, primarily focusing on
Hispanic and small business issues; and
WHEREAS, In 2000, M.A.N.O. established the Permian Basin
Business Development Center in an effort to champion the economic
development of small businesses and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, A leader in business community integration,
M.A.N.O. provides Hispanic leadership training and development;
the group serves the low- and moderate-income market, relying on
volunteer-based assistance to guide these segments into the
business mainstream; and
WHEREAS, By providing area residents with essential
information and support to succeed in business, the M.A.N.O.
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is creating a brighter future for this
state; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize the M.A.N.O. Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce for its dedication to the economic development of the
Permian Basin and West Texas and extend to all those associated with
M.A.N.O. sincere best wishes for future success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
