R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lillian and Joseph Cooper of Dallas mark a golden milestone in their lives on April 16, 2003, as they celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary; and WHEREAS, United in marriage on April 16, 1953, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper have nurtured a strong bond of love and their union has been blessed with four children, Billy Joe Cooper, Jacqueline Jones, Denise Clayton, and Nancy Hall; over the years they have proudly watched their family grow to include 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and sons-in-law Eric Clayton and Carlton Hall; and WHEREAS, After half a century of companionship, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper still cherish time spent together and enjoy serving their Dallas community as a team: when you see Lillian, you see Joe; and WHEREAS, Joe "The Income Tax Man" Cooper's retirement from Eastman Kodak has allowed the couple greater opportunity to pursue their mutual passion of traveling, traveling, and more traveling; Mrs. Cooper remains the only woman her children know who does not work yet takes "vacations," even as they insist that these should more appropriately be called "trips"; and WHEREAS, Lillian and Joe Cooper treasure family above all else and have succeeded in providing a loving and nurturing home; they have instilled in their children a firm sense of responsibility to life's duties, reminding them that they must go to school, be on time for work, and give back to the community, and that the only excuse for not voting is death; and WHEREAS, This remarkable marriage has produced a fine family and many joyous memories, and the love Mr. and Mrs. Cooper continue to share remains an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor Lillian and Joseph Cooper on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Cooper as an expression of high regard from the Texas House of Representatives.
