R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A delegation of fifth-grade students from Bunker
Hill Elementary School in Houston is visiting the State Capitol on
April 14, 2003, to learn more about the seat of Texas government
firsthand; and
WHEREAS, Known as the Bunker Hill Ambassadors, participants
have been selected on the basis of essays and interviews with
teachers to represent their school; they give school tours, provide
grade-level leadership for schoolwide civic projects, and lead the
school's spirit assemblies; and
WHEREAS, The Bunker Hill Ambassadors and their sponsors have
a chance to tour the Capitol and learn the fascinating history of
this important state monument; this experience is one way that the
Bunker Hill school fulfills its mission of preparing students for a
lifetime of academic exploration, personal growth, and civic
responsibility; and
WHEREAS, The magnificent Capitol, with its impressive
rotunda and distinctive pink granite facade, is an ideal setting
for young and old alike to discover the rich heritage of the Lone
Star State and to gain insight into the workings of our state
legislature; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the Bunker Hill Ambassadors for their
interest in state government and extend to them sincere best wishes
for an educational and memorable visit to Austin.
