R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Klein Oak High School girls' soccer team has achieved the pinnacle of success by winning the 2003 UIL Class 5A state championship; and WHEREAS, Facing three-time defending state champion Plano West High School in the Region II finals, this remarkable Klein Oak team displayed true championship heart, scoring the contest's lone goal shortly before the end of the first half and playing stifling defense throughout the rest of the game to win 1-0 and earn a trip to the state tournament; and WHEREAS, The Panthers dispatched Clements High School 2-1 in the state semifinals and went on to capture the heart-stopping season finale against Flower Mound Marcus in a shootout by the same 2-1 score, claiming the coveted crown and completing their campaign with a record of 21-6-2; and WHEREAS, Head coach Steve Simmons inspired his young charges to perform to the best of their ability and also painstakingly prepared them for the rigors of playoff competition, enabling them to achieve their championship dream; and WHEREAS, These dedicated student-athletes, with their coaches and staff, are a source of tremendous pride to all those associated with Klein Oak High School, and the team may indeed look back on this outstanding season with a great sense of accomplishment for a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Klein Oak High School girls' soccer team on winning the 2003 UIL Class 5A state title and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for prominent display at Klein Oak High School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
