H.R. No. 781



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The people of Angleton are gathering for a Support 
the Troops rally on April 18 and 19, 2003, to show visible support 
for our nation and our military men and women; and
	WHEREAS, Our country has taken a stand, telling the world 
that we are willing to make sacrifices in order to make the world a 
better place, that we will not have our security threatened, that we 
will not remain complacent in the face of international terrorists 
and terrorist organizations, and that we will not countenance those 
who aid them; and
	WHEREAS, This community takes pride in the bravery, 
dedication, and patriotism demonstrated by United States troops in 
Iraq and believes it is important to show support for our country 
and those who are charged with protecting us; and
	WHEREAS, Angleton citizens recognize, moreover, the 
sacrifices and patriotism of our troops' families, as they endure 
separation from their loved ones and deep concern for their 
well-being and safe return; and
	WHEREAS, The Support the Troops rally in Angleton is being 
hosted by the American Legion Post No. 241, with the help of a 
number of local businesses, veteran groups, and dedicated 
individuals; and
	WHEREAS, Americans owe an immeasurable debt to their military 
personnel, who have served valiantly throughout this nation's 
history and whose devotion to their country and to democracy is 
deserving of their fellow citizens' deepest gratitude; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby commemorate Angleton's Support the Troops rally 
and commend the residents of that community for standing proudly by 
those who wear a uniform of the United States armed forces.
