R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The year 2003 marks the 30th anniversary of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso, and this milestone provides a fitting opportunity to honor one of the individuals who has helped to make this facility the renowned institution it is today; and WHEREAS, Dr. Edward Saltzstein came to Texas Tech El Paso in 1977 as regional chairman of surgery; during his distinguished 25-year tenure, he led the establishment of the emergency medicine department as well as the development of the Texas Tech/Thomason Level I Trauma Program and the University Breast Care Center; Dr. Saltzstein stepped down as regional chairman on September 1, 2002, but remains a professor of surgery and director of the University Breast Care Center; and WHEREAS, Through his exemplary contributions to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Dr. Saltzstein has helped to establish Texas Tech El Paso as a valuable resource for health care education and delivery for the citizens of West Texas, and his unwavering devotion to the well-being of his fellow Texans will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Dr. Edward Saltzstein, whose outstanding service in behalf of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center has ensured a brighter future for countless people; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Saltzstein as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
