R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The year 2003 marks the 30th anniversary of the 
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso, and this 
milestone provides a fitting opportunity to honor one of the 
individuals who has helped to make this facility the renowned 
institution it is today; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Billy Dean Reeves rendered exceptional service 
as both an educator and administrator during his many years at Texas 
Tech El Paso; he began his tenure there as a professor and chairman 
of the department of OB/GYN in 1977 and currently holds the title of 
emeritus professor for Texas Tech University's School of Medicine; 
and
	WHEREAS, Following his retirement from Texas Tech, Dr. Reeves 
served as a gynecologic consultant to the student clinic at New 
Mexico State University, and in 1995 he held the post of interim 
director for Mesilla Valley Hospice; and
	WHEREAS, Through his exemplary contributions to the Texas 
Tech University Health Sciences Center, Dr. Billy Dean Reeves has 
helped to establish Texas Tech El Paso as a valuable resource for 
health care education and delivery for the citizens of West Texas, 
and his unwavering devotion to the well-being of his fellow Texans 
will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend Dr. Billy Dean Reeves, whose outstanding 
service in behalf of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences 
Center has ensured a brighter future for countless people; and, be 
it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Dr. Reeves as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
