R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The year 2003 marks the 30th anniversary of the
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso, and this
milestone provides a fitting opportunity to honor one of the
individuals who has helped to make this facility the renowned
institution it is today; and
WHEREAS, Dr. J. Robert Brown chairs the board of regents at
Texas Tech University and has previously served as vice chairman of
the board of regents at the university and Texas Tech Medical
School; in addition, he has distinguished himself as chair of the
university's Investment Advisory Committee and as a member of the
President's Council; and
WHEREAS, An alumnus of Texas Tech University, from which he
earned his bachelor's degree, he also holds a doctor of
jurisprudence degree from St. Mary's University; and
WHEREAS, This highly respected businessman is president and
chairman of the board of Desert Eagle Distributing and the co-owner
of the Anheuser-Busch distributorship in Roswell, New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, Through his exemplary service to the Texas Tech
University Health Sciences Center, Dr. Brown has helped to
establish Texas Tech El Paso as a valuable resource for health care
education and delivery for the citizens of West Texas, and his
unwavering devotion to the well-being of his fellow Texans will not
soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Dr. J. Robert Brown, whose outstanding
service in behalf of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences
Center has ensured a brighter future for countless people; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
