H.R. No. 847
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Emma Caraway of Fort Worth
were deeply saddened by the passing of this esteemed lady on
February 22, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Caraway was born on May 30, 1924, in Vaughn, New
Mexico, and over the years lived in Odessa, Spur, Clovis, New
Mexico, Lubbock, and Houston, before moving to Fort Worth; in 1957,
she married E. L. "Bill" Caraway, Jr., and they shared an enduring
union until his passing in 1973; and
WHEREAS, A public school teacher in New Mexico, Ms. Caraway
taught adult education in Texas; she received the teacher of the
year award in addition to numerous other accolades for her work in
behalf of senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Caraway was a caring mother and grandmother, and
her memory will shine brightly in the hearts of those who were
fortunate enough to have known her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Emma Caraway and
extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons,
E. L. Caraway III and Bill B. Caraway; to her stepdaughter, Kay
Pace; to her seven grandchildren; and to her other relatives and
many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Emma
Caraway.
