R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the Texas House of Representatives of the State of
Texas is pleased to join Rotary District 5870 in congratulating the
students across Texas who have been chosen for recognition for
being heroes; and
WHEREAS, today, April 22, 2003, is Young Heroes Day in the
State of Texas for Rotary District 5870 - The Young Heroes of Texas
are those outstanding Texas students in grades 4-12 who excel in
academics, make a difference in their community, have overcome
adversity, or inspire others through their deeds and strength of
character; and
WHEREAS, the students that were selected to be Young Heroes
Finalists are Zana Gardner of Austin, Kristina Kelley of
Smithville, Jonathan Hawkins of Yoakum, and William Barton of
Groesbeck; and
WHEREAS, the students that were selected for special
recognition are Michael Olson of Round Rock, Princeton Howell of
Killeen, Eric Levels of Mexia, Lindsey Carmichael of Lago Vista,
and Jessica Gardner of Harker Heights; and
WHEREAS, each of these exceptional students have been chosen
based on overcoming obstacles in their lives to pursue their goals
while encouraging their communities through service, and they have
demonstrated a true strength of character as a role model for all
their peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the students who are the Young
Heroes of Texas and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for each finalist and special recognition recipient as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
