H.R. No. 856
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A great honor was bestowed on Myrtis Evans Griffin
of Dallas when she was named one of 100 "Women of the Year--2003" as
part of Positively Oak Cliff's Dallas Women's History Month; and
WHEREAS, The Women's History Month celebration, in
conjunction with the Oak Cliff neighborhood's 100th anniversary,
was held on March 16, 2003, at the Oak Cliff Conference and Event
Center; honorees included distinguished women who have contributed
to such noteworthy areas as civil rights, education, professional
advancement, and women's achievements in arts, sciences, and
humanistic causes; and
WHEREAS, Representative of the 2003 National Women's History
theme, "Women Pioneering the Future," Ms. Griffin has been a
leading force in her community as a tireless volunteer; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Griffin has generously committed her time and
energy to helping others, and her good work will undoubtedly
benefit her fellow citizens for many years to come; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Myrtis Evans Griffin on her
selection as one of Positively Oak Cliff's "Women of the
Year--2003" as part of Dallas Women's History Month and extend to
her warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Griffin as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
