R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Texas Industries, Inc. (TXI), the largest cement 
producer in the Lone Star State, has been named the top building 
materials company on Fortune magazine's list of America's Most 
Admired Companies; and
	WHEREAS, Ranked second in the same category last year, TXI 
has been named to the list of highly respected businesses based on 
criteria including innovativeness, employee talent, quality of 
product, services, management, financial soundness, use of 
corporate assets, long-term investment value, and social 
responsibility; and
	WHEREAS, This prestigious list is compiled from a survey of 
10,000 executives, directors, and securities analysts in 66 
industries to discover the companies most admired by these 
professionals; and
	WHEREAS, TXI and its president, Robert D. Rogers, are 
dedicated to offering the highest quality products and service to 
customers, and it is appropriate to take this opportunity to honor 
this fine company and commend all involved for their contributions 
to the state's economic well-being; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate the officers and employees of TXI 
for being named one of America's Most Admired Companies by Fortune
magazine and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued 
success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for TXI as an expression of high regard by the Texas House 
of Representatives.
