R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The year 2003 marks the 25th anniversary of the Elk 
Corporation of Texas, and this event provides a fitting opportunity 
to honor this outstanding North Texas business; and
	WHEREAS, Established in 1978 as part of Elcor Corporation, 
the Elk Corporation of Texas produces high quality roofing shingles 
as well as industrial fabrics and employs over 270 workers, who keep 
the facility operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
	WHEREAS, The company's commitment to producing the finest 
possible products is equaled by its determination to serve the 
Ennis community; a longstanding benefactor of the United Way, the 
Elk Corporation also sponsors a variety of youth athletic teams and 
is a strong supporter of many Ennis ISD programs; and
	WHEREAS, Since its founding, the Elk Corporation of Texas has 
played an important role in the economic vitality of the city of 
Ennis, and it is truly appropriate that this enduring enterprise 
receive special legislative recognition at this time; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with the Elk 
Corporation of Texas on the company's 25th anniversary and extend 
to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the Elk Corporation of Texas as an expression of high 
regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
