R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Nancy Grisham was recently named the 2003 First Lady
of Kilgore by Beta Sigma Phi sorority in recognition of her many
years of outstanding service to her community, and this is a fitting
tribute to a woman who has devoted so much of her life to making the
city of Kilgore a better place in which to live, learn, and raise a
family; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Johnson County, this
distinguished Texan graduated from the Godley School before
attending Texas Wesleyan University, where she earned a degree in
education in 1961, and Stephen F. Austin University, where she
completed her master's degree and administration certification;
over the course of a successful 33-year career with the Kilgore
Independent School District, she served as both teacher and
principal of Chandler Elementary School, as well as assistant
superintendent of the school district; and
WHEREAS, Now leading an active retirement with her husband,
Gail Grisham, Mrs. Grisham has given generously of her time and
resources to support countless local charitable and civic
organizations, including Junior Achievement, Laird Memorial
Hospital, the United Way Budget Committee, and the Kilgore College
Capital Improvement Fund; in addition, she is currently serving as
cochair of the survivors' lap of the Kilgore Relay for Life, a
fund-raising event benefiting the fight against cancer; and
WHEREAS, The compassion and commitment that Mrs. Grisham
displays in every aspect of her life is a true inspiration to all
those who have been privileged to know her over the years, and her
work as an educator, administrator, and civic leader is deserving
of our most profound admiration and respect; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Nancy Grisham on being named the
2003 First Lady of Kilgore and extend to her warmest best wishes for
continued success and happiness in her future endeavors; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Grisham as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
