H.R. No. 896
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, April 23, 2003, marks the 25th pastoral anniversary
of Dr. Damon Shook, the senior pastor of Champion Forest Baptist
Church in Houston; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Shook is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist
University and the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary;
before assuming the pastorate of Champion Forest in 1978, he served
congregations at churches in Arkansas, Kentucky, and Oklahoma and
in a number of other Texas communities; and
WHEREAS, Through his outstanding spiritual leadership,
compassionate guidance, and strong faith, Dr. Shook has served as a
role model to the members of Champion Forest Baptist Church over the
course of a quarter-century of positive change and growth; he has
also served as a trustee of both Houston Baptist University and his
alma mater, the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and as a
valued member of committees of the Southern Baptist Convention; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Shook has been a blessing in the lives of
countless people during his years of dedicated service to the
ministry, and he remains an inspiration to all who are privileged to
know him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Damon Shook on the occasion of
his 25th pastoral anniversary at Champion Forest Baptist Church and
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Shook as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
