H.R. No. 903
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A delegation from the Rio Grande Valley Teachers
Association (RGVTA) is visiting the State Capitol on April 24,
2003, and this occasion provides an ideal opportunity to honor the
organization's dedicated membership of educators and
paraprofessionals; and
WHEREAS, Founded by two former teachers, Adrian Fernandez and
Juan J. Maldonado, the RGVTA serves as a voice for its members at
the local, state, and national levels of government on a variety of
professional and education-related issues; and
WHEREAS, Committed to the organization's founding
principles, RGVTA members work hard to support the education of
area students and recognize that classroom teachers, office clerks,
bus drivers, custodians, and other support staff all play a
significant role in shaping a positive learning environment for the
future leaders of this state; and
WHEREAS, Those charged with the important work of helping to
inspire and inform our children continue to benefit from the
noteworthy efforts of the RGVTA; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the members of the Rio Grande Valley
Teachers Association for their significant contributions to the
field of education in Texas and extend a sincere welcome to the
members of the delegation visiting on this day; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
