R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of Boy Scouts of America Troop 520 in Cedar
Hill are celebrating the troop's 60th anniversary on May 6, 2003;
and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of scoutmaster Mike King, the
troop carries forward a proud tradition of civic engagement,
demonstrating its members' allegiance to the Boy Scout oath "to
help other people at all times"; and
WHEREAS, Troop 520's many worthy initiatives include
conducting blood drives; providing landscaping and other needed
services to parks, schools, and churches; and supporting the
Scouting for Food Campaign to benefit North Texas food banks;
throughout the troop's rich history, its members have also always
participated in Scout Sunday at First United Methodist Church of
Cedar Hill; and
WHEREAS, For six decades, Boy Scouts of America Troop 520 has
inspired the young men of Cedar Hill, equipping them with essential
life skills and a spirit of service that have served them well as
they have encountered the challenges and opportunities of
adulthood; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with Boy
Scouts of America Troop 520 on its 60th anniversary and extend to
them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the troop as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
