R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas Commission on Volunteerism and Community
Service has selected Texas State Bank, a financial services company
with locations throughout South Texas, as the 2003 corporate
recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Award; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1981, Texas State Bank has
grown from a nine-employee company to a full-service commercial and
consumer bank with 31 banking centers and 1,250 employees; its
assets have increased from $1 million to more than $3.8 billion, and
its staff takes immense pride in providing outstanding customer
service, tailored to meet the needs of its personal and corporate
clients; this spirit of service also extends to the role it plays in
the communities it serves, which include Houston, Bishop, Corpus
Christi, San Juan, and Progreso; and
WHEREAS, Each year Texas State Bank generously donates funds
to local charitable, educational, and nonprofit organizations, and
its employees devote their time, energy, and resources to volunteer
with organizations that serve the community; in addition to hosting
gala fund-raising events, many staff members work at charity
auctions, answer phones in telethons and pledge drives, collect
donations as participants in walks and races, and serve on the
boards of local organizations; and
WHEREAS, With the continued generosity and support of such
stellar corporate neighbors as Texas State Bank, the Lone Star
State can remain a place in which the dreams of its residents can be
fulfilled, and all those associated with the bank may reflect with
pride on the company's many good works and deeds; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the directors, officers, and
employees of Texas State Bank on the bank's designation as the 2003
corporate recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Award and extend to
them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Texas State Bank as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
