R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Martha Humphries of Houston on March 16, 2003, at the age of 65, has deeply saddened the family and many friends of this beloved woman; and WHEREAS, A native of Louisiana, she was born on January 20, 1938, in Winnfield, the third child of Morris and Louise Connor; Ms. Humphries moved to Houston in 1965 and embarked on a successful career with SWBell Yellow Pages that spanned 33 years; during her notable tenure, this accomplished woman took on the post of telemarketing sales manager, and she earned the respect of all who were privileged to work with her; and WHEREAS, Passionately devoted to her family, Ms. Humphries took great pride in her two sons, Wayne and Gregg Humphries, and delighted in the joys of grandparenting Christopher and Holly Humphries; and WHEREAS, Those who shared in the life of Martha Humphries will long miss her friendship, and she will surely be remembered with great affection and admiration for many years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Martha Humphries and extend sincere sympathy to her loved ones, including Wayne Humphries, Heather Humphries, Gregg Humphries, Roger Page, Christopher Humphries, Holly Humphries, Thomas W. Humphries, Sr., Billy Connor, Marcella Connor, Johnny Connor, Marilyn Connor, Mary Porter, Beth Pittman, Ross Pittman, and her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Martha Humphries.
