R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jason Michael Ford of Austin joined a select group of outstanding young men when he received the prestigious Eagle Scout award on April 10, 2003; and WHEREAS, A member of Boy Scout Troop 395, Mr. Ford belongs to the Order of the Arrow and is a Venture Scout; in fulfilling the rigorous qualifications for the Eagle Scout insignia, he has earned the requisite merit badges and completed his Eagle Scout project, for which Mr. Ford built an information kiosk and a floating habitat at Hornsby Bend; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ford is a senior at David Crockett High School; he plays the cello in the school orchestra and serves as its vice president and webmaster; this honor student, who enjoys mathematics and science, plans to attend Southwest Texas State University when he graduates; and WHEREAS, In addition to school and scouting, Mr. Ford actively participates in his community through the Colorado River Watch program and various church events; he also volunteers for Ben Hur Shrine Clown fund-raisers, which benefit the Shrine Children's Burn Hospital in Galveston; and WHEREAS, Achieving the elite rank of Eagle Scout is truly an admirable achievement; through his hard work and commitment, Mr. Ford has proven himself to be an exemplary young Texan, and he is truly deserving of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jason Michael Ford on becoming an Eagle Scout and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Ford as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
