H.R. No. 965


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for celebration, and on May 2, 2003, Houston residents Willie "Bill" French, Jr., and Florence French are marking this memorable event in their marriage; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. French pledged their vows on May 2, 1953, in a ceremony officiated by Father George A. Wilson at St. Anne de Beaupre Church in Houston; over the course of their close and enduring relationship, the couple have demonstrated a deep love, trust, and admiration for each other, and they remain a source of inspiration to their loved ones; and WHEREAS, The Frenches take great pride in their close-knit family, which includes seven children, Carol, Vanessa, Michelle, Willie III, Charleta, John, and LaDonna, 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, A dedicated homemaker, Mrs. French devoted untold time and energy as a volunteer with PTA and other school activities and as a den mother when her children were young; she was named Mother of the Year and also worked outside the home for a time following the birth of her sixth child; and WHEREAS, Mr. French retired from Armco Steel after a career that spanned 28 years and then began his own air conditioning and heating business, Tools Enterprises; and WHEREAS, Admired residents of their community, the couple are charter members of St. Monica Catholic Church, where Mr. French serves as a Eucharist minister and lecturer; a past president of St. Vincent de Paul he is also a fourth degree Knight and executive board member of the Knights of Peter Claver, while Mrs. French participates with the Ladies of Knights of St. Peter Claver; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. French have shared the trials and triumphs of five decades together, and their commitment to each other gladdens the hearts of their loving circle of family and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Bill and Florence French on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. French as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
