H.R. No. 978


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to join the citizens of the City of Diana in recognizing May 4, 2003, as Robert F. Hunt Day; and WHEREAS, On that day, the New Diana Elementary School is being renamed for Principal Robert F. "Bobby" Hunt, whose commitment in behalf of children spans 36 years and includes 25 years of outstanding service with the New Diana Independent School District; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hunt was born in Hallsville, where he attended public schools; he earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Baylor University and began his career in education in 1967 with the West Rusk Consolidated Independent School District; he and his wife, Delores, have three children and attend First Baptist Church in Hallsville; and WHEREAS, Throughout his career, this esteemed professional has been dedicated to assisting the children under his guidance and has often gone far beyond the call of duty; from building fences to sitting in emergency rooms with his students, he has been a devoted and caring educator and an excellent role model for the many young people who look up to him; and WHEREAS, A hardworking and resourceful administrator who is highly respected for his wisdom and skills, Mr. Hunt has played a major role in making the New Diana Elementary School the excellent educational facility it is today; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Robert F. Hunt for his exceptional contributions to Texas children and the educational system of our state and recognize May 4, 2003, as Robert F. Hunt Day in the City of Diana; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Hunt as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
