R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The dedication ceremony for the Garden of Memories
at Rabbit Hill School in Georgetown offers a fitting occasion to pay
homage to the life of school cofounder Robert "Bob" Clyde
Williamson, who passed away on April 30, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Born on November 9, 1932, in San Jose, California,
Mr. Williamson served from 1953 to 1957 in the United States Air
Force; on November 24, 1956, he married the love of his life, JoAnn
Sweet, and over the years they became the proud parents of two
children, Debi and Robert David, and a grandson, Robert Jeffrey
Williamson; and
WHEREAS, A man of strong faith, Mr. Williamson earned a
master's degree in childhood education from The University of Texas
at Austin and found a deeply rewarding lifetime ministry in the
education of young children; together with his wife, he established
Rabbit Hill School in Georgetown and Rocking W Camp in Florence; and
WHEREAS, Rabbit Hill School, a private Christian school that
offers instruction through the fourth grade, has consistently
produced students who are high academic achievers with strong moral
fiber, and this success can be directly attributed to the vision,
hard work, and commitment that Mr. and Mrs. Williamson demonstrated
throughout the years; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his outstanding efforts in the realm
of education, Mr. Williamson gave generously of his time and energy
to the First Baptist Church in Georgetown, where he served as
deacon; his other affiliations included The Ex-Students'
Association of The University of Texas, the Georgetown Chamber of
Commerce, and the National Federation of Independent Business; and
WHEREAS, For 37 years Bob Williamson worked to uplift the
minds and brighten the hopes of countless young people, and his
achievements will continue to benefit every student who passes
through the doors of Rabbit Hill School; widely and warmly admired
for his contributions as an educator, his devotion to his family,
and the zest and humor he brought to all his endeavors, he will be
cherished always by the countless individuals whose lives he
touched; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of the Garden of
Memories at Rabbit Hill School and pay tribute to the life of Robert
"Bob" Clyde Williamson, who, with his wife, JoAnn, rendered
immeasurable service to the people of Williamson County.
