H.R. No. 1013
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Communities throughout the State of Texas proudly
celebrate the Lone Star State's rich multicultural heritage with
colorful and fun-filled celebrations of the state's many
historically and culturally significant holidays; and
WHEREAS, Ranking high among these holiday celebrations are
the annual Cinco de Mayo festivities that, in communities large and
small, are often a high point in the yearly calendar of community
events; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Dunne High School in Dallas is among the many
schools, neighborhood groups, businesses, and civic organizations
that have made Cinco de Mayo a major focal point for their community
activities and made it possible for people to come together in a
spirit of fun, fellowship, and cultural celebration; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of the Latinos Unidos Club, the
students and faculty of Bishop Dunne High School will commemorate
Cinco de Mayo 2003 as part of this cultural celebration and
recognition of Hispanic heritage; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the Latinos Unidos Club at Bishop Dunne
High School on its efforts and strong commitment to heighten the
cultural awareness and understanding of the Mexican-American
community of this state and nation; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the club as an expression of high esteem by the Texas
House of Representatives.
