R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Palmer Drug Abuse Program (PDAP) in McAllen is a
reliable friend to the community, and its invaluable work in
support of those suffering from drug addiction is truly
commendable; and
WHEREAS, Founded in Houston in 1971 by Bob Meehan in
conjunction with Father Charles Wyatt Brown and the Palmer Memorial
Episcopal Church, PDAP is a nonprofit organization that today has
operations in nine cities; by working closely with the community,
it has helped thousands of young drug abusers to turn their lives
around; and
WHEREAS, Led by administrative director Barbara Smith and
program director Jody Guerra, PDAP McAllen provides counseling and
other important services to help teenagers and young adults reclaim
their lives and build a future based on hope and drug-free living;
and
WHEREAS, Through hard work and commitment, PDAP McAllen has
been a source of countless benefits to area residents seeking to
achieve sobriety; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize the myriad contributions to the
community rendered by the Palmer Drug Abuse Program in McAllen and
extend to all those associated with this important effort warmest
best wishes for a future filled with success and happiness.
