H.R. No. 1030
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For nearly four decades Elwanda Stone has played a
key role in the lives of the students, faculty, and staff at
Holliday Elementary School, and this year, as she retires from her
position as school secretary, it is indeed appropriate that she be
honored for her many years of hard work in behalf of generations of
Holliday schoolchildren; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Holliday, Ms. Stone is a graduate
of the local high school who first joined the staff of Holliday
Elementary School as an aide; she was later named to the post of
school secretary, and she has served with distinction in that
capacity for the past 37 years, complementing her work at the local
level with membership in the Association of Texas Professional
Educators; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Stone is known to many residents of Holliday as a
friendly and helpful person whom students and parents have come to
rely on during the elementary school years; a devoted member of the
community of faith at the First Baptist Church of Holliday as well,
she also participates in the Holliday Investment Club; and
WHEREAS, The kindness and professionalism that Elwanda Stone
has brought to her work has helped to shape an environment conducive
to learning at Holliday Elementary School and has earned her the
respect and admiration of many people; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Elwanda Stone on her many years of
outstanding service to Holliday Elementary School and extend to her
warmest best wishes for a delightful retirement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Stone as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
