                                                                  H.R. No. 1031


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The combat death of Airman First Class Raymond Losano, a 24-year-old Del Rio native, has shocked and saddened the family and many friends and comrades of this beloved young man; and WHEREAS, Airman Losano was mortally wounded on April 25, 2003, when his patrol of U.S. special forces engaged more than 20 rebels in a firefight at Shkin, an eastern Afghan city near the border of Pakistan; a tactical air command and control specialist with the 14th Air Support Operation Squadron, this courageous serviceman had been deployed to Afghanistan about a month earlier; he was previously stationed at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina; and WHEREAS, Educated in Del Rio and Tucson, Airman Losano attended Pima Community College in Arizona before joining the ranks of the United States Air Force in November 2001; along with his beloved wife, Sarah, this devoted family man cherished each moment he spent with the couple's young daughter, Lora; tragically, at the time of his death the Losanos were looking forward with immense joy to the birth of their second child; and WHEREAS, Our state and our nation are fortunate to have young men and women whose love of country leads them to military service, yet the death of this exemplary young man is a sobering reminder that armed conflict is not without great and terrible cost; the passing of Airman Losano is a tremendous loss to his family, friends, and fellow soldiers, and his sacrifice in the meritorious service of his nation will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Airman First Class Raymond Losano, United States Air Force, and extend profound sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Sarah Losano; to his daughter, Lora Losano; to his parents, Oralia Losano and Roberto Losano, Sr.; to his sister and brother-in-law, Melinda and Armando Hernandez; to his brother and sister-in-law, Roberto Losano, Jr., and Monica Losano; and to the other relatives and many friends and colleagues he leaves behind; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Airman First Class Raymond Losano.
