R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, May 30, 2003, marks the conclusion of a distinguished career in law enforcement for David Childs, for on that day he is retiring from the Irving Police Department; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Childs began his career with the Irving Police Department on January 5, 1976; over the years, he has served in the department's internal affairs/personnel development section, the technical services division, and the patrol division, and he has excelled at each new challenge he has taken on; and WHEREAS, This esteemed officer has received more than 13 commendations, a five-year safe driving bar, and seven marksmanship awards during the course of his outstanding 27-year career; Sergeant Childs has won the lasting respect and admiration of his fellow officers and citizens alike for his professionalism and dedication to duty, and it is a pleasure to commend him for a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate David Childs on his retirement from the Irving Police Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Childs as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
