R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family of Sergeant Edward John Anguiano of Los Fresnos has sustained an enormous loss with the death of this courageous soldier, whose life was tragically cut short at the age of 24; and WHEREAS, Support specialist Anguiano was with a group of soldiers from the 507th Maintenance Company that was ambushed by Iraqi troops on March 23, 2003, near the city of Nasiriyah; a mechanic with Company A of the 3rd Infantry Forward Support Battalion, he was based in Fort Stewart, Georgia, before his deployment to the Persian Gulf; and WHEREAS, This outstanding South Texan was a 1998 graduate of Hanna High School in Brownsville, where he was a member of the ROTC program; he impressed instructors and classmates alike as a soft-spoken, highly motivated, and well-disciplined student of immense character and commitment; and WHEREAS, Our state and our nation are fortunate to have young men and women whose love of country leads them to military service, yet the death of this exemplary young man is a sobering reminder that armed conflict is not without great and terrible cost; the passing of Sergeant Anguiano is a tremendous loss to the family, friends, and fellow soldiers he leaves behind, and his sacrifice in the meritorious service of his nation will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Edward John Anguiano, United States Army, and extend profound sympathy to the members of his family: to his mother, San Juanita Anguiano; to his sisters, Becky and Jennifer; and to his other relatives and many friends and colleagues; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army Sergeant Edward John Anguiano.
