R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A love of Texas heritage and culture has inspired Frances Ann Day Moyers to contribute innumerable hours of service to its preservation; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mrs. Moyers was born and raised in Fort Worth; she is actively involved in a host of historical societies and is a valued member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy; and WHEREAS, In 1995, after moving to Granbury, Mrs. Moyers became a member of the Comanche Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas; dedicating much of her time and energy to the group, Mrs. Moyers took on many responsibilities, serving on the telephone, scholarship, publicity, and audit committees and as vice president before attaining her current position of president; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Moyers and her husband of more than 50 years, E. Wayne Moyers, are members of the Hood County Genealogical Society; the couple have made two trips to Tennessee to research the lineage of their respective families and have collaborated in publishing a book on the history of his family; and WHEREAS, This dynamic woman has many interests in addition to her work in historical preservation; a devoted mother to sons Mark Wayne and Barry William, Mrs. Moyers has always made the well-being of her children her top priority; and WHEREAS, As a ham radio operator, she has been active in RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) and was trained as a weather-spotter responsible for warning others in case of severe weather; as president of the Kilocycle Amateur Radio Club, she helped to maintain and operate the emergency system for broadcasting messages to a wider area; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Moyers has served as president of the M. H. Moore Pre-School and South Fort Worth Elementary School parent-teacher associations and has held positions with the First National and Seminary state banks and Mid-Continent Oil Well Supply; and WHEREAS, Texas has an extraordinarily rich history, and through her outstanding dedication to promoting the preservation and understanding of this history, Mrs. Moyers has earned the respect and admiration of her peers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Frances Ann Day Moyers for preserving and passing on the storied history of the Lone Star State to the residents of Hood County; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Moyers as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
