R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The silver insignia of the Eagle Scout is being conferred on Roland Henneke Kapalski at his Court of Honor ceremony on May 24, 2003; and WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is a significant achievement reached by only a fraction of those who enter the scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, Mr. Kapalski earned 31 merit badges and successfully completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his community; and WHEREAS, Throughout his scouting career, Mr. Kapalski has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability, serving his fellow scouts as patrol leader, troop guide, and assistant patrol leader; in addition, he has been a member of the Order of the Arrow for five years; and WHEREAS, An honor student and accomplished athlete at St. Pius X High School, Mr. Kapalski plays football and soccer for the school, ranks fifth in the junior class, and was elected to serve as senior class president next year; he is also a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council; and WHEREAS, The son of Harold and Jocelyn "Jackie" Kapalski, he is an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and he has given generously of his time and talents in behalf of this fine organization; the American Cancer Society and Little Thicket Park have also benefited from his volunteer services; and WHEREAS, His dedication to excellence and perseverance in pursuit of his goals have proven Eagle Scout Kapalski worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and it is most appropriate that he be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Roland Henneke Kapalski on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Kapalski as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
