R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Janet Dobbs has been named the Spring Branch Independent School District's 2003 Secondary School Teacher of the Year, and this achievement truly warrants special legislative recognition; and WHEREAS, Ms. Dobbs graduated from Lamar University with a bachelor's degree in psychology and mathematics, and she earned her master's degree in educational psychology from the University of Houston; and WHEREAS, A mathematics teacher at Northbrook Middle School, Ms. Dobbs endeavors to challenge the minds of her young charges while demonstrating how learning can be fun and rewarding; as a result, the students in her class have outstanding test scores and few discipline problems; and WHEREAS, Ms. Dobbs was awarded the Teacher of the Year accolade on April 29, 2003, at the annual Spring Branch ISD Service Awards/Teacher of the Year Reception, held at the Westchester Academy for International Studies; with this special recognition, Ms. Dobbs receives a special golden apple award, a $2,000 professional growth stipend, and awards and gifts provided by various community partners; and WHEREAS, Demonstrating the highest ideals in the noble profession of education, Ms. Dobbs is a source of tremendous pride to her school district and a treasured mentor to her students, and it is pleasure to recognize her at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Janet Dobbs on her selection as the Spring Branch ISD 2003 Secondary School Teacher of the Year and extend to her best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Dobbs as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
