H.R. No. 1116



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Marc Cohen and Patrick Walsh were recently honored 
as true heroes by the International Air Land Emergency Resource 
Team (ALERT) Academy in Big Sandy with their receipt of ALERT 
Commendation awards; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Cohen and Mr. Walsh, who are students at the 
academy, received the school's highest honor for the heroism they 
demonstrated on April 4, 2003, in saving a woman who had lost 
control of her vehicle due to the effects of a seizure; and
	WHEREAS, Returning from Tyler Pounds Regional Airport, the 
young men noticed the woman's erratic driving and witnessed her 
vehicle crashing into the car of another in front of her and coming 
to rest in oncoming traffic; instinctively coming to the woman's 
rescue, the courageous men dodged traffic, desperately reached for 
the brake pedal and turned off her car, and cared for the woman 
until medical personnel could arrive; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Cohen and Mr. Walsh willingly put themselves in 
danger to save the life of another person and their bravery and 
selflessness have earned them the lasting respect and admiration of 
their fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend Marc Cohen and Patrick Walsh for their 
heroism and congratulate them on their receipt of the ALERT Academy 
Commendation award; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Cohen and Mr. Walsh as an expression of high regard 
by the Texas House of Representatives.
