R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Residents of Brazoria County lost a beloved neighbor, friend, and community leader with the passing of Lee Arthur Wilson, Jr., on January 24, 2003; and WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman grew up on a farm in Del Rio, and after serving in the United States Army during the Korean War, he graduated from Texas A&M University and embarked on a successful career as a county agriculture agent; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson garnered a wealth of knowledge about local crops and livestock during his 31-year tenure as an agent, and when he retired, he was the first person to receive the title of County Extension Agent Emeritus; and WHEREAS, Respected throughout the Texas Gulf Coast agriculture community, Mr. Wilson gave generously of his time and expertise in support of his fellow farmers and ranchers; in addition, he earned the admiration of many in the community for his work with area students; and WHEREAS, Blessed with a compassionate heart, a unique sense of humor, and a devotion to family and friends, Lee Wilson helped to make Brazoria County a better place in which to live and work for many Texans; with his passing, the state lost one of its original "wild horse riders," and while he will be greatly missed, his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lee Arthur Wilson, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family, his co-workers, and his many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lee Arthur Wilson, Jr.
