R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Christopher Albert Kaeppel of Houston
on May 3, 2003, has brought a tremendous sense of loss to the family
and many friends of this esteemed physician; and
WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Dr. Kaeppel was born on
December 19, 1934, to Albert Enno Kaeppel and Mildred Sheffield
Kaeppel; after graduating from Rice University and The University
of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, he completed his internship
and residency at Hermann Hospital and served two years in the United
States Navy Medical Corps in Guam; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding professional maintained a
successful private medical practice from 1966 to 1999, and he later
served as director of obstetrics and gynecology at Memorial Family
Practice; beloved by colleagues and patients alike, he was an
active member of many professional societies, including the Harris
County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the
Houston Gynecological and Obstetrical Society; and
WHEREAS, In his free time, Dr. Kaeppel enjoyed such diverse
interests as woodcarving, camping, fly-fishing, astronomy,
attending the opera and symphony, reading, tracing his family's
genealogy, and watching college basketball; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Kaeppel was a man of wisdom, compassion,
and great humor, and while he will be deeply missed, his memory will
live on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he
touched; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Christopher Albert
Kaeppel and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
his cherished wife of 45 years, Mary Guest Kaeppel; to his father,
Albert Kaeppel; to his three children, Michelle Kaeppel Brumbaugh
and her husband, Tim, Christy Kaeppel Day and her husband, Kevin,
and Colin Kaeppel and his wife, Catherine Colangelo; to his five
grandsons, Zachary and Nicholas Brumbaugh, Jason Karahan, Travis
Day, and Julian Kaeppel; and to his other relatives and many
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
Christopher Albert Kaeppel.
