R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The retirement of Rod Tate brings to a close the
distinguished 30-year career of an exemplary Texas educator; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tate attended Tarlton State University, where he
earned his bachelor of science degree in elementary education and
history as well as his master's degree in education administration
and mid-management certification; and
WHEREAS, A Mineral Wells native, Mr. Tate has taught fifth
grade and coached intermediate physical education at Cullen Grimes
Elementary; he also has taught middle school in Texas history,
American history, and world history in the Early Independent School
District; and
WHEREAS, While a coach for the University Interscholastic
League Modern Oratory Team, Mr. Tate provided superb mentorship and
guidance to the participating students, who consistently placed in
the top three award spots; and
WHEREAS, A talented educator able to encourage and engross
his students in the learning experience, Mr. Tate was supportive
and willing to take extra steps to inspire his students, such as the
time he shaved his head to reward the football team for a big win;
considered a role model and a friend by his students, Mr. Tate and
his infectious laughter will be sorely missed in the school
hallways; and
WHEREAS, Through his dedication and hard work, Mr. Tate has
positively influenced the lives of countless young people, and his
admirable career in education deserves special legislative
recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Rod Tate on the occasion of his
retirement from teaching and extend to him warmest best wishes for
future happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Tate as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
