H.R. No. 1190


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, James Richard Pendell of Clint has been appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve on the Texas School Safety Center Board, and he brings to his post a wealth of experience that will serve the board well as it continues its important work; and WHEREAS, The owner and president of Strickland Foods, Inc., this outstanding Texan pursued higher education at Texas Tech University, where he attained two bachelor's degrees and a master's degree; Mr. Pendell's long history of informed participation in the field of education includes his service as president of the Clint Independent School District Board of Trustees, as chair of the Far West Texas School Board Association, and as an active member of the Texas Association of School Boards; and WHEREAS, His considerable expertise will be of great benefit to the Texas School Safety Center Board in its oversight of the center, which is a collaborative effort of the criminal justice division of the governor's office and Southwest Texas State University to reduce youth violence and promote safety in Texas schools; and WHEREAS, Mr. Pendell's deep commitment to the vital cause of education will benefit all Texas students as he performs his new duties, and the citizens of the Lone Star State are grateful for his presence on this important body; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate James Richard Pendell on his appointment to the Texas School Safety Center Board and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Pendell as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
