R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, May 5, 2003, marked a milestone in the life of Ruby 
Rosa May Merrill Miles of Pearland, for on that day she celebrated 
her 89th birthday; and
	WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mrs. Miles was born in Indian Gap on 
May 5, 1914; she attended McGirk High School, where she studied 
drama and was a star basketball player; and
	WHEREAS, This beloved woman married James Townsend Miles on 
June 26, 1934, and over the years, her family has grown to include 
three children, Jesse Miles, Diane Taylor, and Glenda Dawson; five 
grandchildren, Dee Saenz, Mike Miles, Melinda Myles, Chad Taylor, 
and Clay Taylor; and four great-grandchildren, Lauren Partridge, 
Dawson Partridge, Madison Miles, and Jay Michael Miles, who 
affectionately refer to her as "RoRo"; and
	WHEREAS, In addition to spending time with her cherished 
family, Mrs. Miles enjoys cheering for her favorite sports teams, 
which include the Houston Texans, Astros, and Rockets, the Dallas 
Cowboys, and the various Pearland athletic teams; and
	WHEREAS, Blessed with a large and loving family, many 
friends, and nearly nine decades of wonderful memories, Ruby Miles 
truly has reason to celebrate, and it is a pleasure to join in 
recognizing this special day in her life; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Ruby Rosa May Merrill Miles on the 
joyous occasion of her 89th birthday and extend to her sincere best 
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Miles as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
