R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lakendra Sharnae Stewart has provided outstanding
assistance as an intern in the district office of State
Representative Glenn Lewis during the 78th Legislative Session; and
WHEREAS, Born in Tyler, Ms. Stewart graduated from John Tyler
High School in 1996 and went on to attend Tyler Junior College and
The University of Texas at Arlington before rounding out her
undergraduate studies at Texas Wesleyan University; and
WHEREAS, A participant in the university's student
internship program, Ms. Stewart has enhanced her knowledge of the
legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star
State during her tenure with the house, while also gaining valuable
work experience in a political environment; and
WHEREAS, This accomplished young Texan is graduating from
Texas Wesleyan University on May 17, 2003, with a bachelor's degree
in political science; she currently plans to pursue her graduate
studies in the liberal arts program at Texas Christian University
and embark on a career in the field of city management; on
completing her master's degree, this forward-looking individual
hopes to one day serve as the city manager of her hometown of Tyler;
and
WHEREAS, Lakendra Sharnae Stewart has demonstrated
exceptional commitment and dedication during her tenure in the
student internship program, and she is indeed deserving of special
recognition for her exemplary efforts in behalf of this state; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Lakendra Sharnae Stewart for her service
as an intern in the office of State Representative Glenn Lewis and
extend to her warmest best wishes for success and happiness in all
her future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Stewart as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
