R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Michael W. Moehler, Ph.D., has served the State of
Texas as a teacher, principal, and superintendent since 1973, and
during his time as such he has demonstrated outstanding leadership
and commitment to excellence in educating the youth of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Moehler has served 17 years as a superintendent
at a 1-A school district, 3-A school district, and two 4-A school
districts, including eight years at Calhoun County Independent
School District and three years at Abilene Independent School
District; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Moehler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
1968 from Memphis State University, a Masters of Education in 1977
from The University of North Texas, and a Doctor of Philosophy in
1986 from The University of North Texas; and
WHEREAS, He is married to Connie Moehler, an English teacher
at Abilene High School, and has one daughter, Christina Gibson, one
son, Joseph, and one granddaughter, Mikaela Brylee; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Michael W. Moehler, Ph.D., in his
retirement on June 1, 2003, from superintendent of Abilene
Independent School District, after many years of service as an
educator and administrator; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Moehler as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
