H.R. No. 1232
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Daniel S. Power recently won reelection to his post
as city councilman for District 5 in El Paso, and his contributions
to his community are truly worthy of special legislative
recognition; and
WHEREAS, Educated at The University of Texas at El Paso,
where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in criminal
justice, Mr. Power has worked tirelessly in behalf of his
constituents in East El Paso; he is a strong supporter of the city's
parks and recreation programs and, in addition, has helped to
implement a successful educational and employment program for
disabled citizens; and
WHEREAS, A democratic form of government depends on the
informed participation of its people, and foremost among the
system's participants are those dedicated individuals such as Mr.
Power; and
WHEREAS, In taking on his difficult challenge, Mr. Power has
joined the proud tradition of citizen leadership that has been our
nation's trademark for more than two centuries, and he can take
justifiable pride in the role he is playing in this noble legacy;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dan Power on his recent reelection
to the El Paso City Council and extend to him warmest best wishes
for future success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Power as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
