H.R. No. 1234
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Joe Wardy was recently elected as mayor of El Paso,
and his commitment to his community truly merits special
legislative recognition; and
WHEREAS, An El Paso native, Mr. Wardy was raised in the
Lakeside area and attended Jesuit High School before earning his
bachelor's degree in finance and management from The University of
Texas at El Paso; in 1986 he became a partnership owner in his own
trucking firm; while building his business, Mr. Wardy worked
closely with state and federal legislative delegations, the
Leadership Research Council, and the chamber of commerce on many
important private initiatives benefiting the citizens of El Paso;
and
WHEREAS, A democratic form of government does indeed depend
on the informed participation of its people, and foremost among the
system's participants are those dedicated individuals such as Mr.
Wardy; and
WHEREAS, The demands of public office are great and, in
taking on his difficult challenge, Joe Wardy has joined the proud
tradition of citizen leadership that has been our nation's
trademark for more than two centuries, and he can take justifiable
pride in the role he will play in this noble legacy; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Joe Wardy on his recent election as
mayor of El Paso and extend to him best wishes for future success;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Wardy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
