R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a notable occasion worthy of special recognition; and WHEREAS, Thurston and Virginia O'Neil of Midland commemorated that golden event in their marriage on February 28, 2003, when they were joined by family and friends at the Midland Country Club for a spirited celebration of their five decades of mutual affection and devotion; and WHEREAS, United in marriage on February 28, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Lovington, New Mexico, the couple have seen their relationship grow in love and respect with each passing year; and WHEREAS, The O'Neils are blessed with two children, Lynne and Paula, both of whom have benefited immeasurably from their parents' unfailing love and guidance, and Mr. and Mrs. O'Neil have also happily welcomed two beloved grandchildren into the family fold; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his career Mr. O'Neil was the co-owner of Mesa Mack Trucks and then worked for Texas Instruments until his retirement, while Mrs. O'Neil was a valued employee of Midland Memorial Hospital for 30 years; and WHEREAS, For half a century, Mr. and Mrs. O'Neil have shared a union filled with many cherished times and joyful family memories; their relationship is a source of inspiration to their family and many friends, and it is a pleasure to join their loved ones in honoring this fortunate pair; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Thurston and Virginia O'Neil on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. O'Neil as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
