R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans
who have shared 50 happy and fulfilling years of marriage is truly a
momentous event worthy of special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy and Thomas Dollahite of Midland
commemorated this noteworthy event in their lives in a memorable
way on February 1, 2003, with a scrapbook party and trip; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dollahite and the former Dorothy Crank were
united in marriage on February 1, 1953, at a ceremony held in El
Paso; over the course of their marriage, Mr. Dollahite pursued
successful careers in corporate aviation and in the U.S. Army,
ultimately retiring with the rank of colonel, and his wife served as
a hospice volunteer and dedicated homemaker; and
WHEREAS, Before moving to Midland, the Dollahites made a home
for themselves and their two children, Thomas and Marlyss, in
several Texas cities, as well as in Washington state, Alabama, and
New Jersey; today active members of the Permian Basin community,
they worship at the Christian Church of Midland and pursue their
individual interests through their involvement in the Midland
Woman's Club, Delta Gamma Alumni, the A&M Club, and the Quiet
Birdmen; and
WHEREAS, Since exchanging their vows half a century ago, Mr.
and Mrs. Dollahite still look forward to each day with the same
sense of adventure that first sparked their romance, and it is a
pleasure to honor these fine citizens on their 50 years together as
husband and wife; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dorothy and Thomas Dollahite on the
joyous occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to
them warmest best wishes for many more years of continued
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Dollahite as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
