R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On April 7, 2003, Levetta Malva Washington of Houston turned 50 years young, and this significant milestone no doubt gladdened the hearts of her many friends and admirers who look forward to sharing her friendship and sunny good nature throughout the years to come; and WHEREAS, Born on April 7, 1953, this lovely lady works at Bruce Elementary School and has been a loyal employee of the Houston Independent School District for more than 25 years; in addition, she is an active congregant of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and youth department volunteer; and WHEREAS, Ms. Washington is a member of several noteworthy organizations, including the Missouri City-Metro Chapter of the National Women of Achievement; however, it is through her own volunteer efforts that she touches the lives of so many individuals, particularly seniors and children; and WHEREAS, "If I Can Help Somebody" is the personal motto by which this woman of deep faith lives; and whether providing transportation for someone in need, taking snacks to nursing home residents, providing assistance to a stranger with car trouble, or offering a meal to a hungry person, Ms. Washington responds because her heart tells her it is the right thing to do; modest about her many good works, she admits she helps others in an attempt to "add a little sunshine" to their lives; and WHEREAS, The birthday of Levetta Washington provides an opportune time for her family and friends to share with her a small bit of the joy and hope she has imparted to countless people throughout the years; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Levetta Malva Washington on the joyous occasion of her 50th birthday and extend to her heartfelt best wishes for continued fulfillment in her many charitable endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Washington as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
