R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For 25 years, the Reverend Robert C. Hodge, Sr., has served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Malakoff, sharing his knowledge and experience with his fellow congregants and benefiting his community in countless ways; and WHEREAS, Born in Calvert on March 19, 1929, Reverend Hodge attended Rose Hill Elementary School and graduated from Calvert Colored High School in 1948; he earned a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in 1955 and pursued his higher education at Bishop College and Prairie View A&M University; and WHEREAS, This remarkable gentleman is a longtime member and associate minister at Goodstreet Baptist Church; he also serves as an instructor in the Galilee Griggs District Association and has been a valued employee at Texas Nameplate for 33 years; and WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Reverend Hodge has enjoyed a strong and loving marriage with his wife of 50 years, Joyce; together they have been blessed with seven children, 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Reverend Hodge is a man of great faith and integrity, and his passion for teaching and preaching the Word continues to inspire those who are privileged to know this fine man; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor the Reverend Robert C. Hodge, Sr., for his 25 years of service as pastor of First Baptist Church in Malakoff and extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Reverend Hodge as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
